Overview Associate Degree
The associate degree is a two year programme in higher education with 120 credits. In the first semester you select one out of seven job profiles. There is an orientation assignment to facilitate this. Your job profile helps you to decide about your individual study path within the Open Learning semesters (introduction and main). The job profile is the basis for your graduation assignment.
Alternatively you can use the wild card to compile your personal job profile. This needs approval by the exam board.
After graduating in the associate degree you can complete the bachelor in another two years.
Overzicht Associate Degree
De associate degree is een tweejarige hbo-opleiding van 120 studiepunten. In het eerste semester selecteer je een van de zeven beroepsprofielen. Je maakt daarvoor een oriëntatieopdracht. Jouw beroepsprofiel helpt je om je individuele studiepad te bepalen in de Open Learning semesters (introduction en main). Het beroepsprofiel is richtinggevend voor je afstudeeropdracht.
Desgewenst kun je met de wild card een eigen functieprofiel opstellen. Daarvoor heb je wel instemming nodig van de examencommissie.
Na je afstuderen in de associate degree kun je doorstuderen en in twee jaar je bachelor halen.

Implements and manages cloud infrastructure and services under the supervision of experienced engineers. Works on setting up virtual environments, automating deployment processes, and monitoring cloud resources according to established architectures and security guidelines.
Performs structured threat, risk and vulnerability analysis on existing systems. Formulates security advice based on performed attack and defend activities. Designs, implements and tests basic offensive and defensive security measures and techniques.
Analyzes business data and develops reports under the guidance of senior analysts. Works on collecting and transforming data from various sources, creating dashboards and visualizations, and supporting business stakeholders with data insights. The focus is on the practical application of analysis tools, database querying, and business intelligence platforms.
Develops software for embedded systems and IoT devices under the supervision of senior developers. Works on programming microcontrollers, implementing real-time functionalities, and testing hardware-software integrations according to technical specifications. The focus is on embedded programming languages, development boards, and debugging tools.
Develops user interfaces and client-side functionalities under the supervision of senior developers. Works on implementing responsive designs, integrating APIs, and optimizing the user experience according to UI/UX specifications and style guidelines. The focus is on front-end frameworks, CSS preprocessors, and JavaScript libraries.
Designs and optimizes AI prompts for various applications under the supervision of AI specialists or senior developers. Works on creating effective prompt structures, testing AI output quality, and documenting best practices according to project requirements and AI model guidelines. The focus is on AI platforms and conversational design principles.
Monitors and manages automated production systems and IoT infrastructure under the guidance of operations managers. Works on monitoring system performance, troubleshooting, and supporting data analysis according to smart industry standards and safety protocols. The focus is on dashboards, SCADA systems, and Industry 4.0 technologies.
Develops software applications by effectively using AI tools and assistants under the guidance of senior developers. Works on creating applications by prompting, validating, and integrating AI-generated code. By critically evaluating the quality of generated code, contributes to efficient and reliable software development. The focus is on AI development tools and code validation methods.
This job profile is an extra addition on top of the standard profiles mentioned in the orientation assignment.
